Cyberattack on Tripura bank, data stolen from Kolkata office; FIR filed

Tripura State Cooperative Bank has confirmed that it was the victim of a cyberattack between November 5 and November 7, resulting in the theft of sensitive customer and financial data. The breach took place at the bank's server located in its New Town office in Kolkata. The stolen data includes personal information of customers, financial transaction details, and potentially confidential documents related to the bank’s operations.

The breach was initially discovered by the bank’s internal cybersecurity team when they detected unauthorized access to the server. According to the bank’s official statement, the cyberattack was carried out remotely, and the system was compromised through a laptop from a location within the state. The bank's IT team immediately initiated an internal investigation and notified the authorities. Bishwanath Majumdar, the bank’s top official, filed a formal complaint with the Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police Station.

The police have since registered an FIR under the Information Technology Act, and investigations are currently underway.
